Made in Mexico: Leisure + Business Travel Domestic Content Study | Cancún. Playa del Carmen. Tulum

Join the Made in Mexico Study. Shape $16B in tourism revenue. Deadline: April 30, 2027.

Mexico's tourism industry generates nearly $30 billion annually. In Quintana Roo alone, international travelers spend over $16 billion every year. The question facing the region isn't whether money flows in. It's how much stays.

This fall, a comprehensive study launches to measure the market. Available in English, Spanish, and French, the research will ask what travelers want, how much they spend, and where they want to invest. The data will reveal the opportunities Mexican businesses, suppliers, and workers are missing.

Then in 2027, the strategy accelerates. A digital trade show opens year-round, connecting international professionals, exhibitors, and sponsors with regional suppliers and venues. The platform purposefully intensifies September 6 through 8, during the region's slow season, to help businesses power bookings and partnerships into shoulder and peak seasons. An in-person FAM tour follows November 9 through 13, bringing decision makers to Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum to experience the market firsthand.

Mexican businesses already deliver what international travelers seek: authentic experiences, superior craftsmanship, local expertise, and genuine hospitality. The gap isn't quality. It's access and visibility.

Currently, between 40 to 60 percent of tourism spending flows through international supply chains and foreign operators rather than Mexican businesses and suppliers. That's not a market failure. That's an opportunity.

Direct relationships between Mexican restaurateurs and international travelers shift revenue from intermediaries to producers. Mexican tour operators booking premium experiences build sustainable businesses. Mexican suppliers partnering with hotels create stable revenue streams. Mexican workers moving into higher-wage positions strengthen the regional economy.

The study identifies what travelers want and which Mexican businesses they'd choose if they knew they existed.

The year-round digital trade show (intensifying September 6–8, 2027) connects international leisure travelers, business event planners, corporate travel buyers, and investors with regional suppliers. The FAM tour (November 9–13, 2027) brings them to experience the market directly across all three destinations.

When Mexican businesses capture tourism spending, the impact multiplies: more jobs for Mexican workers, more revenue for Mexican suppliers, more growth for Mexican communities, more investment in Mexican infrastructure.

The study begins this fall in English, Spanish, and French. The digital trade show launches year-round with peak activity September 6–8, 2027. The FAM tour runs November 9–13, 2027. Learn more at DomesticContent.com. Made in Mexico powers global tourism.
