How much of Mexico’s tourism economy stays in Mexico?
DomesticContent.com has launched the Made in Mexico Leisure + Business Tourism Domestic Content Study for Cancún + Tulum, examining how tourism spending and investment support Mexican workers, businesses, suppliers, supply chains, and communities.
Located in Quintana Roo on Mexico’s Caribbean coast, Cancún and Tulum are two of Mexico’s most recognized international tourism destinations. Their economies connect hotels, restaurants, transportation, entertainment, construction, events, professional services, local suppliers, and thousands of workers and businesses.
The study examines a central question: When money is spent and invested in Cancún and Tulum, how much of the economic benefit stays in Mexico?
Participants will share their views on Mexican-made purchasing, jobs and workforce, domestic and global supply chains, country of origin, affordability, tourism investment, economic opportunity, and participation by Mexican businesses.
Individual responses will remain confidential, with findings analyzed in aggregate.
Who Should Participate?
The study is open to residents, workers, businesses, suppliers, entrepreneurs, community organizations, government, and tourism industry stakeholders across Cancún, Tulum, and surrounding communities.
Businesses encouraged to participate include:
- Hotels, resorts, vacation rentals, and property operators
